My name is Jim Casteel, I live in Northern Colorado and have lived here for most of my life.  Being in Colorado for so long has given me the opportunity to see much of the natural beauty Colorado has to offer. 

I have wanted to be a photographer for a long time. Photography had always seemed like it was going to be another expensive hobby I couldn't afford but one I enjoyed and wanted to dive into. Then along came the revolution of the inexpensive digital SLR camera. This enabled me to get started in amateur SLR photography. I am still using the first Digital SLR I purchased off of CraigsList for $300.

Now that I had the equipment all that was left was for me to go out and wait for those amazing sunsets and picturesque scenes to pop up as I drove down the road.  Yeah Right!  

This website's purpose is not just to show off our photos but is also to share what we have learned from the true experts in the field like Ken Rockwell and Galen Rowell.  Thanks to them I have been able to lay to rest the preconceived notion that my camera takes the pictures and instead focus on the artist that makes the pictures.
